Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a high molecular weight polymer, and PTFE O Ring is one of the most versatile plastic materials known and useful for a large range of products for applications excluded to other materials. Unlike other Metal O Rings,PTFE O Rings are known for higher heat resistance, higher resistance to chemical agents and solvents, anti-adhesiveness, dielectric properties, low friction coefficient, and non-toxicity than Silicone O Ring.
The tensile and compressive properties are to a large degree influenced by the working processes and the polymer used. PTFE O Ring, however, can be used continuously at temperatures up to 260°C (500°F), while possessing still a certain compressive plasticity at temperatures near to the absolute zero.
PTFE is a popular O-Ring material which is White in color. The PTFE O Rings are popular for use in applications which require a chemically resistant and non-compressible material.
PTFE is the chemically inert of the O-ring materials.
